Influenced by industrial, agrarian and vernacular landscape, James Wade explores the evidence of our presence in these areas through sculptures and drawings. Observations become contemplations of the history and meaning of place. Wade combines traditional techniques with hybrid fabrication processes. Digital methods of 3D printing, CNC routing and laser cutting complement woodworking, modeling and alternative patternmaking practices to prepare forms for metal and synthetics casting.

Wade studied art at the University of Kentucky and the University of Georgia, earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1996. Wade’s sculpture and drawings have been included in over 100 exhibitions across the United States as well as in England, Italy, Poland and Bolivia. He works from a studio on his family’s farm in Lexington, Kentucky.
